Our History

Brazos Valley Farmers Market

Like us on Facebook!

Happily returned to Historic Downtown Bryan after almost 20 years, and is located at 500 North Main St. in Downtown Bryan. It has always been led by a small group of local producers who wanted to provide the region with local produce. The original Saturday market only had a few vendors. As of 2010, our market had grown to two weekly markets with ever growing sales.

The goals in the early days were the same as the goals are today – to create venues where local farmers can connect directly with Brazos Valley consumers, to build community in an urban setting, and to provide public education on regional farming, gardening and food preparation.

Brazos Valley Farmers Market is governed by an all volunteer board. The organization is funded through vendor fees and countless hours of volunteer time. Brazos Valley Farmers Market receives no city, state, or federal funding.

Brazos Valley Farmers Market

  • One Year-round Market and one seasonal Market in the Bryan/College Station area, serving hundreds of shoppers per week.
  • A direct connection to our vendors with deep roots in the Brazos Valley, including farms, nurseries, and specialty foods producers.
  • A vibrant gathering place where friends meet and shop.
  • A resource for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition.

Our Mission

To support our region’s farms by connecting consumers directly to local food producers, strengthening urban-rural community bonds, and educating the general public on the benefits of eating locally produced food.

    • Ellen,

I apologize if your question was not responded to! We are open on Saturdays from 8-noon. If you haven’t been to our market yet, we would love for you to come! I also use to live in Shiro. Small world!

  1. Thank you Jennifer. Shiro huh??? That’s crazy. I’m visiting from Florida staying with my daughter for a few months. My ex is starting up an RV park here and I’m helping him with that also. I will definitely come see you in the next few weeks. Thanks again for your reply!
